Business Card Reaserch for class 7
I found a bunch of really interesting and quirky ideas on these websites:
http://www.webdesignerdepot.com/2010/06/how-to-design-your-business-card/
http://explainafide.com.au/artist-business-cards/
http://www.allgraphicdesign.com/graphicsblog/2008/02/17/more-cool-business-cards-business-card-layout-design-part-3/
here are a few I found from these websites, not all artist related but there is a photography one:
It seems a good way to really get your card noticed is to create something unique and quirky, or something that hasn't really been done before, even something people can interact with like a fold out card, heres a really cool one, very cleaver idea:

Photography stuff - Buildings have character.
My aim with this shot was to capture the balance between the building and the
car port, highlighting the tree/vines linking the two in the photo.
With this shot I wanted to capture the effect that the elements have had on the building
over time and emphasise how it almost glows behind the leafless vines that cover it.
With this picture I pretty much just liked the contast between the building and the tree.
